What is the current status of silicone gel breast implants? - Aria Plastic Surgery

Since the early 1990s silicone gel implants have only been available to certain groups of patients selected by the FDA. These include patients with gel implants who would like new gel implants, patients requiring breast reconstruction, patients having breast lifts and patients with "complications" of saline implants. The FDA is scheduled to review petitions by both US implant manufacturers next month. It is our hope that all patients will have the option of silicone gel breast implants after the FDA meeting.
