Body Lift

Problem

After massive weight loss, the extra folds of skin can be a real problem for wearing clothes and being as active as you’d like to be. Also, the abdominal wall and the muscles have been stretched out, only adding to the problem.

Procedure

One of the most common surgeries used today for this problem is a body lift, sometimes called a belt lipectomy. In this procedure, the excess skin and fat is removed from around your belt line, leaving you with a trim waist line and a scar which is easily hidden. The procedure is usually done as an outpatient and the recovery time is typically between two and three weeks.

Results

Body lift results are immediate, but aren’t fully seen until swelling has gone down and everything has healed. Some patients experience some soreness, bruising, or swelling after surgery. This may last for 2-4 weeks.

Please come in for a consultation if you’d like to learn more about body lifts, or other surgeries following massive weight loss.  Dr. Frank is a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in body lifts in the Chicago area.

Dr. Frank,

Thank you so much for being so kind to share with me your own personal experience of surgery. It truly helped me and also to know everything would be O.K. You have been so kind to me since the first day we met, and that has been such a comfort in itself.  Thanks again for everything and all your kindness.
